Preparations - Part 2

Another box is packed and will be off to Texas in a day or two - more essentials including a DVD player, a cooler for transporting food as needed, another sort of cooler for the new notebook computer which is now on order and should be arriving soon, a few DVD's (we really don't have more than a few) and a couple of VHS tapes - probably more of such entertainment than we'll ever have the chance to watch. We've also included some more 'practical' items like flashlights, rain ponchos, an emergency kit of sorts and a critical item - coffee (with a couple travel mugs). Mapping of the trip has been completed and it looks to be fun and interesting for the first half of the trip, but there is a long stretch thru part of Canada and Alaska that shows few signs of any sort of population. I suppose that in a week or so we will begin to organize clothing, etc. and we've already decided on a bit more warmer things than we originally were considering since the expected temperatures for part of the journey appear to be a bit cool at night.

Need any mix cd's for the drive? Though you both probably wouldn't know (or like) most of what I have --- you might be surprised with a few things. Too bad you can't watch those dvds/vhs's while driving --- that would sure make the driving easier. Maybe one day when someone invents self-driving cars....
