We know it is no big deal for many of you reading this after all the snow that has fallen in most parts of the country this year, but it is a big deal here in Florida. Yes, we actually had some snow fall here on Friday. For us it was just about 30 minutes of large, heavy flakes that melted when they hit the ground, but just a bit to the West and North of us, there was some accumulation and in other parts of the Deep South, there was actually some heavy accumulation with covered highways, frozen bridges, etc. Of particular note; many people, especially children, in the area had never experienced snow before and there were school closings, etc. throughout the area. According to the National Weather Service, at one point on Friday there was snow on the ground in every state except Hawaii.
