Nice Surprises

At the end of March, we moved from Alabama to one of our favorite spots at Fort Pickens near Pensacola Beach in Florida, joined by Mary and Bill for their first stay at this location.  Unfortunately, thanks to some nasty storms, the area was pretty much flooded for part of our stay, but not quite enough to force an evacuation as we experienced on our November visit.  We were happy to witness another Blue Angel practice session during our stay.  We also had visitors as Nicole and Jessica drove from PA to join us for a while, which included a cruise out of New Orleans to Mexico. Photos are available at this link.  Hit the "all" and "slideshow" buttons to view all the pictures.

Our next stop was in Gadsden, AL, where we explored the area of the Noccalula Falls and the Little River Canyon near Fort Payne, AL.  Photos can be found at this link.  Again, hit the "all" and "slideshow" buttons.

We are now in Cave Spring, GA, where we will spend a week exploring this area and you'll hear more about this in a later blog entry.

A Rough Day in the South

It was quite a day yesterday (23 FEB 2016).  All is well here, but some really nasty weather was all around us from Louisiana through NW Florida.  There were many tornados including one in Louisiana that devastated an RV park, killing 2 and injuring 30 people.  Our closest brush was one that hit shore at Flora-Bama in Orange Beach to our South, fell apart a bit, but reformed in Pensacola and did a lot of damage near Pace.  The worst we experienced was some severe thunderstorms with high winds that went on until about 10 pm.  We still have some high winds, but the storms are gone.
