June First...Anchorage to Seattle to Newark, NJ, to Allentown, PA:
If you've never been there...we could see snow capped mountains from any vantage point in Anchorage - and not distant mountains, they lie just outside of the city. An amazing backdrop for everyday activities.
Much too early a morning after finalizing the packing after midnight (last minute due to packing an insulated box and a cooler full of frozen 'BUTT' and salmon and a few assorted other local items). Up at 5:45...bid farewell to Jeff - Tracy (in uniform) ready to deliver us to the airport. The entire back of her 'rig' is filled with our bags andboxes and there is no choice but to hail a red cap upon arrival at the airport.
We already had boarding passes (printed on Thursday nite) and seat assignments so the check-in process was fairly painless (another $25 for an over weight bag - no surprise) and security (although the line was a bit long) went without a hitch as well. By the time we arrived at our gate, there was just enough time to get a cup of coffee and before we'd been able to drink a few sips the preboarding had been started. A comfortable flight later, including a movie (not free) and a breakfast (also with a price tag,but reasonable and cheaper than a breakfast at an airport) we found ourselves
in the Alaska Airways area at the Seattle Airport and again by the time we reached the area of our gate, we had only enought time to grab a Starbucks and we were on the way again.
Writing this, we are about half way into our flight to Newark and expect that Vickie
will be arriving there to pick us up within a short time after we land and it will be the end of yet another segment of this trip. Now back to home and time to start searching the net for an RV. Ok, Deb and Tracy have already spent a bunch of time looking but the beat will go on until we find the most appropriate for our needs at the right price. There are plenty out there but you'd probably be surprised at the variety and it really takes a bit of research to narrow it down to just the right features.

Postsript: Vickie arrived in just about perfect timing after we had retrieved all our bags and boxes at Newark (Thanx Vickie!) and we had a very nice ride home...chatting about the trip the twins, etc. and taking a much needed
refreshment break (where else but Starbucks!) along the way.

Today it is three weeks since it all began and it is hard to believe that this day has come so quickly; however, in another sense it is just the start - adventure number one with many more on the horizon.
